15. Greetings From the Equator

Date: June 9, 1982
Age: 5

As you can see, I am now in Ecuador. I have one more country to go to and then I come back to you and Mommy.
I love you, Daddy

Another postcard from his journey through South America. I'm not sure I have much to say beyond that. Although, I have to give him credit--from the stamps and postmarks, it seems that he's sent every card from not only its respective country, but city (if applicable) as well. That's a weird quirk of mine--if I send a postcard while traveling, I have to mail my cards from the city they represent. It irritates me, more than it really should, when someone sends me a postcard from their vacation, but it's postmarked from from the wrong place. It's particularly egregious if it is an international trip, and a postcard from, say, China has a stamp with an American flag smacked on it. What's the point?

  1. I couldnt agree more...i also prefer that i have the card stamped and written from the place of origin, instead, as i have several exhibits, where a US card is sent from the Netherlands or cards from Scotland and Paris are sent from Germany....that discrepancy makes the card lose its value, though i do say that its the thought that counts also for someone sending me a card.
Regarding that the card is sent from the exact city...well, i wouldnt mind, as long as its from the country its coming from, though its really neat if a card is stamped and canceled from the town that is shown on the actual card.

And you are lucky that your dad has been sending you cards....you have so many countries from which nowadays people find it hard to get a postcard for their collection :)

Nice to read through your blog....i like postcards with stories :)
    Goes to my bookmarks ;-)
Thanks for dropping by at mine.
