Mommy said that when I left today you saw a plane fly over and asked if I was on it. Well, maybe I was on that one, and here is a picture of where I landed.
Love, Daddy
Love, Daddy
There are a lot of questions that come up for me as I upload these cards, one of which is, why did my dad have to travel to North Carolina so often? Was there a certain academic conference that always took place there? Did he do a lot of research with a university in NC?
While the most sensible thing would be to ask my dad for answers, I'm very reluctant to do so. Yesterday I said as much to someone and said it felt too "intimate." At first I thought I was using the wrong word, but now I don't think so. My dad and I haven't spoken to such depths about our past in, well, ever. Although having a superficial relationship with him is not ideal, it's what we're both comfortable with, at this point. It keeps us from having any friction in our relationship, and allows us, in some way, to realize we love each other.
I think I'll just keep a list of questions so I don't forget them, and perhaps somehow the answers will eventually be revealed.
