32. Chicago Skyline

Date: January 8, 1980
Age: 2 1/2

When I bought this card I was in the Chicago airport, but I didn't have a pen to write with. Now I have a pen, but I am in California. Where do you think it will be mailed from.
Love, Daddy

I don't have any postcards dated June 26, so I thought I'd upload this one, for a friend who has recently been checking out the blog. Chicago is her home away from her home away from her home. Or maybe even her home away from her home away from her home away from home. Confusing, yes, but she has reasons to call Brussels, Brooklyn, Chicago, and Newark all her homes.

I've, shamefully, only spent a weekend in Chicago, so I can't tell how out of date this skyline is. I don't see the building that's shaped like a vagina, however, so that must be an addition that came about in the past 30 years.

Also, I am now convinced that all these postcards from my toddlerdom in which my dad admits to sending from a different locale than the one depicted is the reason why I have such a hang-up about from where I send my postcards. The postmark is indeed from Sacramento, but, just like yesterday's card, I'll allow it, due to my dad being a responsible clarifier.

  2. Hooray! I was just thinking about Chicago. Want to cut your classes and come with me on a road trip out there in October? Just you, me, the open road, and giant fountain drinks (lite on the carbonation) by our sides ...
