53. Aerial view of the Summit of Mt. Washington

Date: August 6, 1977
Age: 2 1/2 months

Today we went through clouds to the top of the mountain. You slept through the trip.
Love Mom & Dad

This is the earliest known postcard I have from my dad, and I'm sure I'll be hard-pressed to find something even older, so I'll officially call this the first postcard in my collection. Uneventful and anticlimactic I guess, as these things sometimes happen. If this were a work of fiction, this would be the first card.

I should have uploaded a photo of the postmark, and I will when the next time I hit a scanner. The postmark is exactly like the one in this blog's header (aside from specifics like place and date, obviously), from 1950. In 27 years, nothing was redesigned. I'd like to get a postcard from Maine or New Hampshire now (hint hint), to see what kind of differences have come about.
