61. The New York Hilton at Rockefeller Center

Date: August 27, 1980
Age: 3

This is where we are staying. It's a very nice place but too expensive for my blood.
Love, Daddy

Back then, it would have been a bit expensive for my family, so I'm not sure what we were doing there, especially since my grandparents lived in Brooklyn and my aunt and uncle in midtown--plenty of free places to stay. Or, "we" could mean he was on a business trip with colleagues. Who knows?

His tastes have changed, however--he does enjoy luxury. And, he has worked hard for it. I would guess that a Hilton is on par with a Marriott, and he's not too keen on Marriott hotels anymore--and yet we stayed in many while I was a kid. Nowadays, he's more of a Sofitel or Four Seasons kind of guy.
